Weather Profiles tab

Used to manage System and Project Weather profiles with several options for manipulating the profiles. Weather profiles can be imported or copied into your project folders. Project weather profiles can be edited for specific calculations or simulations that may be required on your project.

The Weather Profiles tab contains controls used to view, manipulate, import, copy and modify application and project weather profiles data.

Weather Profiles toolbar Contains tools used for importing weather files, copying weather profiles, copying weather profiles between application and project folders, and maps to select weather locations from.
  • Import — Used to import weather data files into the OpenBuildings Energy Simulator application folders or the active project folders. Clicking Import opens the Import Weather Data dialog where all supported weather files can be browsed and selected for use in the active project. Once selected, the imported weather file’s weather data added to your OpenBuildings Energy Simulator application folders or your active project folders.
  • Copy — Used to create a new project weather profile by making a copy of the selected weather profile. Application and project files can be copied. Copied application weather profiles are read writable (no lock icon). Copied project weather profiles are read writable.
  • Copy to project/application data — Used to copy weather profiles between the project and application folders. The Copy to project button is enabled when application weather profiles are being displayed. The Copy to application data button is enabled when project weather profiles are being displayed.
  • Map - Opens the World Map dialog which is used to select weather locations from an interactive world map.

    Reset Zooms out to the map maximum extents (full world map).
    Filter Searches for weather locations entered in the adjacent text field and provides a selectable list of results in a drop down menu.
    Note: The Filter drop down is disabled (greyed out) until you enter text.
    Map This navigable and interactive map allows select weather locations. You can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel, or zoom in by drawing a rectangular zoom extents box with data points.
    Note: The Map option is only available at the Application level
    Selected Displays the selected weather location.
    OK Accepts the selected weather location, and closes the dialog returning you to the Weather Manager dialog.
    Cancel Aborts any selection made, and closes the dialog returning you to the Weather Manager dialog.
    Note: Available only when Application weather locations are listed.
Profiles Lists all weather profiles in the application and project weather databases. The selected weather profile’s weather data is displayed in the Weather Manager data panels.
  • Categories — Weather profiles are listed alphabetically inside categories based on countries and states/provinces. OpenBuildings Energy Simulator provides a database of weather data and weather profiles. They can be browsed by clicking the Application button, and are divided into collapsible alphabetic sub groupings in specific country states/provinces such as USA – Pennsylvania or Canada – Ontario.
  • Category pop-up menu – Position the pointer over a category and right click.
    • Expand – Expands only the highlighted category.
    • Collapse – Collapses only the highlighted category.
    • Expand all – Expands all categories.
    • Collapse all – Collapses all categories.
    • Add category – Adds a new empty category.
    • Rename category – Renames the selected category.
    • Delete category — Deletes the category and all the weather profiles included with it.
  • Weather profile pop-up menu – Position the pointer over a weather profile and right click.
    • Copy – Copies the selected profile into the same category.
    • Copy to project/application data – Copies the selected profile to the project or application profiles depending upon which list of profiles is active. The copied profile appears in the same category as the original.
    • Rename – Allows you to rename a profile.
    • Delete – Removes the profile from the list.
Tip: Application weather profiles and their data are delivered by OpenBuildings Energy Simulator in read-only databases. Read-only status is indicated by lock icons.
